Just an average Sunday with 'Cook, E'

About once a month or so I join Teddy (and the 'boys') down at the station for dinner, usually when he is working on a Sunday. In the 3 or 4 times that I've done this since we've been married he has never gotten a call during dinner (Thank God because I don't know what I would do around all those 'boys' while he was out saving lives...ha) But ofcourse, it was bound to happen eventually, right? About 5 minutes after I got there last night the bells went off...AAH!?! So his lieutenant immediately said 'Teresa, why don't you throw on a shirt and go with them!' Now I'm thinking, oh gosh, maybe I'd rather stay here....
But I jumped on in and off we went! The call was stated like this '86 year old female who is experiencing pain in her legs and can't walk' okay...so when we arrive to her condo she has walked out to the corner and is waiting for us! Purse and all! Her son was there with her and said "I've got some errands to run, so I'll meet her at the hospital in about 45 minutes...you're taking her to Mount Sinai right?" Unreal...just wanted to get rid of mom for 45 minutes so he could 'run his errands' unfortunately, Teddy said people abuse the system like that all the time! We took her in and we're heading back for our chicken fajitas, black beans and yellow rice..yummy! But no, 2 minutes from the station and, oh yes, another call!! This was a '71 year old female experiencing severe chest pains radiating to her right arm' now this was a real call!
We arrived at her condo (everyone on south beach lives in condo's) and it was a completely different feel. The boys stepped things up about 10 notches. Transported her down to the truck, and went to work! It was so amazing to sit there and watch my husband (and Kerri and Bill, great job y'all) do their thing! She was in the middle of a heart attack. It was pretty intense for about 5 minutes, then everything was under control. Finally, back to the station for dinner! Theres nothing more cute then a bunch of men hanging out at a fire station calling each other play names like 'cookie'. The back of all of Teddy's gear reads 'Cook, E' (Edwin Theodore Cook, III) so he has been marked "cookie" and I love it! ;)
What an exciting night. I love you cookie, and I'm so proud of you and what you're doing! Thank you for taking care of our little family and working so hard to provide for us! Muah!!
*I would have taken pictures for y'all but my husband said the patients probably wouldn't appreciate the flash! HA!
